The couple's personal Potton designer set to work discussing their ideas and came up with a rustic, wooden-clad barn that makes use of local resource materials and fits the agricultural aesthetic. It would also contain a future-proofed, modern interior with plenty of light, vaulted areas and exceptional use of space.
The end result is simply spectacular. The wooden cladding echoes the traditional rural look, in keeping with the surrounding area whilst looking distinctly unique. It's peppered with cleverly placed windows and a grand roof with local materials tiling its span.
The home appears to emerge from the ground as local doulting stone is cleverly used to border the lower portion of the property.
Inside are all the trappings of a stately country home with the cosy comfort of farm living. Flagstone tiling, underfloor heating, clean and crisp walls and a wood burning stove create the exact atmosphere for a couple wanting to retain practical farmhouse function whilst adjusting to the more relaxed lifestyle of later life.
