Delivering U-values ranging from 0.15 to 0.13 W/m2K, Kingspan ULTIMA™ is slimmer than most other commonly available building systems. By using the premium-performance Kingspan Kooltherm insulation within a timber structure Kingspan ULTIMA™ offers a slim wall build-up – giving you more living space in your new home.
The internal vapour control layer which is factory fitted in a protected position behind the inner insulation lining of the Kingspan ULTIMA™ also acts as an air-barrier and provides air-tightness to the wall structure. 
Thermal bridging at external junctions is a much more important contributor to overall than energy efficiency that it used to be, because new homes in the UK are now relatively well insulated and reasonably air-tight. To address the heat loss which occurs at these junctions, we have prepared thermal bridging calculations that demonstrate the performance of the  Kingspan ULTIMA™ system and help improve the overall energy efficiency of your new home. The calculations for Kingspan ULTIMA™ demonstrate a level of performance that improves significantly over that used in the reference values utilised in SAP – the energy-efficiency software used to check compliance with the Building Regulations.
The Kingspan ULTIMA system benefits from fire resistance testing to demonstrate both 30 minutes and 60 minutes of fire resistance. The 30 minutes level of fire resistance was achieved using a single layer of 12.5mm Knauf Type A plasterboard. 60 minutes of fire resistance was achieved using two layers of 15mm Knauf Type A board. Both tests were carried out in accordance with EN 13651-1: 1999.
Kooltherm is an extensive range of premium-performance phenolic insulants for roof, wall and floor insulation.
Kingspan Kooltherm has a fibre-free rigid thermoset phenolic insulation core faced on both sides with a low-emissivity composite foil facing. By using Kingspan Kooltherm the thickness of insulation included in external walls can be minimised and the floor space available for use increased.
Kingspan Kooltherm offers the following benefits:
  • With a thermal conductivity of 0.018–0.023 W/m.K, these are the most thermally efficient insulation products in common use.
  • The thinnest commonly used insulation products for any specific U–value.
  • Manufactured with a blowing agent that has zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) and low Global Warming Potential (GWP).
  • The closed-cell structure resists both moisture and water vapour ingress, a problem which can be associated with open-cell materials such as mineral fibre, which can result in reduced thermal performance.
  • Unaffected by air infiltration – a problem that can be experienced with mineral fibre and which can reduce thermal performance.
  • Safe and easy to install – fibre-free core.
  • When installed correctly, can provide reliable long-term thermal performance over the lifetime of the building.
