An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Commercial Manager to join our team based in Great Gransden, Bedfordshire. This role is offered on a full time, permanent basis in return for a competitive salary, and is a fantastic opportunity to develop within our Commercial Team.

As an Assistant Commercial Manager you will support in the overseeing of our Projects, protecting the company position and identifying where our actual costs exceed our estimations.

About the Assistant Commercial Manager role:

You will investigate and report issues as they occur throughout the project, recovering the costs where possible. In you addition, you’ll work with the Commercial Manager to develop an understanding of contract management, placing orders, and producing forecasts. In addition, you will;

  • Manage all unexpected costs experienced though all areas of the business
  • Log, investigate, report, propose and implement solutions, and recover costs where possible. Examples could be; Unexpected site works (CVI’s), Transport issues, Additional material usage, Customer problems
  • Complete reconciliations of completed projects, creating reports to monitor cost trends within the business
  • Work under the supervision of the Commercial Manager to manage and administer commercial contracts
  • Obtain accurate quotations for erection services and place erection orders within estimated allowances for all projects secured, considering commercial and operational benefits when placing orders
  • Working with the Commercial Manager, learn how to prepare sales forecasts and report to the business units and their management teams
  • Maintenance of supplier details within the IMS system
  • Learn how to estimate using our estimating system to help you to better understand your commercial responsibilities
  • Make all necessary commercial recommendations to improve performance, protect the business and ultimately improve profitability
  • Seek opportunities to grow the business, whether through partnerships or new initiatives, and works to take advantage of those opportunities
  • Develop and maintain high-level relationships with key customers and stakeholders
  • Adhere to company policies regarding health and safety, quality, environmental performance and compliance

What we're looking for in our Assistant Commercial Manager:

  • Good standard of education
  • A strong understanding of the Commercial side of a business
  • The ability to pick up new computer programmes very quickly
  • Analytical skills,a methodical approach, and exceptional communication skills are essential
  • A reliable team player
  • Open minded
  • The ability and desire to learn
  • A sound knowledge of the timber frame and SIPS systems and construction is essential
