Potton is based in Great Gransden in Cambridgeshire, and is commutable from Biggleswade, Cambourne, Cambridge, Huntingdon, Royston, Sandy, St Ives and St Neots.

Potton also operates the Potton Self Build Show Centre in St Neots, with 5 self build show homes.

Self Build Consultant

Job title: Self-Build Consultant
Reporting to: Potton - Business Unit Director
Base: Potton Show Centre
Account Area: Central Area (as agreed)
Hours per week: 39 hours per week 
Annual Leave: 25 days (plus Bank Holidays) 
Probation Period: 6 months

Potton are looking to recruit a Self Build Consultant based near Sandy, Bedfordshire.

Main Purpose of the Role:
 
The Self-Build Consultant will sell the Potton build solution to self-builders, and on occasion, small self-build contractors across the South East of the UK. This will be achieved by utilising and maximising leads that have been generated for you, as well as following up opportunities that you have created yourself. You will plan and carry out sales activities, so as to maintain, develop and maximise sales, in accordance with agreed business plans with the support of the marketing team.
 
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain and develop a current and prospect client order book.
  2. Plan and carry out sales activities to agreed budgets, sales volumes, values, product mix and timescales.
  3. Attend the Potton Show Centre and Self-Build shows in order to generate quality leads.
  4. Respond to and follow up sales enquiries by post, telephone, and personal visits,  ensuring that your interaction leads to the client purchasing from Potton.
  5. To quickly ascertain, at the onset, that the client has appropriate land secured and assist in the development of the design.
  6. Assist the client in securing planning permission, ensuring that the individual’s requirements are correctly specified.
  7. Develop expertise within the product to ensure the quality of the design, the manufacturing excellence and the added value services will make up the finished offering.  This will include our weather-tight shell offering, whole house insulation pack, windows and doors, stairs and internal joinery.
  8. Maintain and develop existing and new customers, through planned individual account support and liaison with internal staff.
  9. Monitor and report on activities and provide relevant management information.
  10. Liaise and attend meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties, to aid business and organisational development.
  11. Attend training, develop relevant knowledge and skills, ensuring continuous CPD.
  12. Be aware of, and act on, the requirements of the group Code of Conduct, Product Compliance policy and Marketing Integrity Manual particularly when providing product technical advice to customers.
Compliance:
  • Ensure our products and services are delivered in compliance with all appropriate regulatory standards and legislation and support our obligations certificated accredited systems for Safety (ISO 45001), Quality (ISO 9001), Environment (ISO 14001), and Compliance Management (ISO 37301 New).
  • Be aware of, and act on, the requirements of the group Code of Conduct, Product Compliance Policy and Marketing Integrity Manual particularly when providing  product technical information and advice to customers. 
  • Support and contribute to any audit inspections that the company conducts and make sure the IMS and evidence based information is available for auditing purposes.

We are focused on creating unique houses for our customers to live in. Our bespoke design service, quality of build, attention to detail and commitment to customer service is admired across the industry. We continue to lead the way with innovation in design, service and product package. Our business is increasingly design focused and we are seeking to recruit an additional architectural designer to strengthen our existing team and design service offering.

The successful applicant will help ensure that our design work and the services we provide remain current and relevant to the increasingly sophisticated needs of our customers. The role involves being a key member of the architectural team. The applicant will have a keen eye for detail and will sit alongside our architectural designers to create details and have a willingness to find solutions. Knowledge of SAP and thermal performance would be an advantage.

Potton have an Offsite Manufacturing facility which produce the house kits, they also complete the frame erect on site and often get projects to Weathertight stage. The architectural office sits at the front end of this process so knowledge of timber frame and SIPs based wall systems would be an advantage but not essential, in house product training will be provided. Potton are looking to increase the supply package and the successful applicant will play a key role in this.

Main Duties:
  • To provide architectural technologist services to our customers and our internal architectural designers.
  • To assist in creating details with our team who create Building Regulation and Construction drawing sets
  • To work with all departments to drive towards environmentally friendly and energy efficient homes.
  • To work with the rest of our design team to continuously improve the quality and presentation of our architectural design work
  • To follow operating systems required by the business
  • We are looking for a candidate with strong interest in residential design, particularly detached houses on single and multiple plot sites, educated to graduate or equivalent higher level of education. Previous experience of working with a demanding retail customer base, would be an advantage.
