The Milchester, which is the largest of the five show homes at our Self Build Show Centre, has been completely transformed to create an inspirational space that better reflects the tastes of today’s discerning self builders and satisfies the essential requirements for modern family living.

By working with a number of tried and trusted suppliers, we have also created an opportunity for other brands to showcase their own products and allows customers to see, first hand, the quality and workmanship.

Cambridge Kitchens & Bathrooms

Originally the Milchester had a much smaller kitchen and separate sitting area, the two rooms were combined to make one large open plan space, our starting point was to conceal the nib wall which supported the RSJ.

We achieved this by building it into the left hand column of the chimney breast, in a primed finish to decorate on site, making it look as if it was part of the design. As the house is very traditional we used a flat painted Shaker style door with chrome cup handle and knobs, the paint finish was specially commissioned by the interior designer.

The work surfaces on the main part of the kitchen are Corian with coved upstands and Dekton Cintered Stone on the island with Belfast sink to complete the traditional look, we also have the latest Neff appliances on display.

Cast iron radiator on blue wall and wooden floor

Manchester-based bespoke radiator company Castrads was chosen because its high-quality pieces combine timeless elegance with modern efficiency. Various designs and finishes were chosen to complement every room’s aesthetics working closely with the designer.

Traditional towel radiators were chosen for the bathrooms and an array of cast iron radiators, from the ornate Rococo in Full Polish highlighting the detail, to the contemporary Grace in Burnished Copper.

The Milchester pays homage to traditional Georgian architecture for a family home. Symmetrical and double fronted it’s evident that the entrance to the property needed to be the focal point of the interior.

The Rococo II in Full Polish (highlighting the detail in the design) was chosen to accentuate this statement, creating an impressive, beautifully inviting, warm entrance. Keeping consistency for a more harmonious approach the same Rococo II was added throughout the ground floor of the property.
Moving upstairs the master bedroom was fitted with two low level Princess II cast iron radiators in Beaten Brass under the windows. Having a high heat output and matching the linear detailing in the interior design with warm tones the Princess II was the perfect choice.

The other smaller bedrooms included the 3 column cast iron radiator. Saving on space within the rooms but not lacking design these were finished in a complementary Farrow and Ball shade, Wevet. Adding to the traditional feel of the Milchester home, the Vivien towel radiator was specified for the bathroom.
Overall, after close contact with the designer and a site visit to establish heat loss calculations, Castrads were able to specify a heating system that not only heats the home but sympathetically complements the aesthetics of the property.

Grey yorkstone patio

London Stone

London Stone supplied Grey Yorkstone into the Milchester Show House. The Grey Yorkstone we supplied was used to create a stunning patio in the rear garden and was also used in step format to create a striking threshold to the main entrance of the property.

London Stone supply an extensive range of natural stone and Porcelain Paving. The high specification finish of the Milchester show home demanded an equally high specification natural stone. So, after careful consideration the decision was taken to use Grey Yorkstone Paving and Steps.

Grey Yorkstone is a natural stone that’s indigenous to the British Isles and is very much a premium, aspirational material.

London Stones Grey Yorkstone is cut and processed at our bespoke stone production centre near to Heathrow airport, as are the bespoke Bullnose step treads.
Premium materials like Yorkstone need to be cut, fabricated, packaged and delivered to a high standard which is why unlike the majority of UK stone suppliers we complete the whole process in house.

Visit the London Stone website to view our market leading range of Stone Paving, Porcelain Paving, Composite Decking and a whole range of associated quality landscaping materials.
