We are excited to announce the launch of the new government Help to Build scheme

The scheme makes it more practical and accessible for people to build their dream home by helping them overcome high mortgage and deposit costs which can be associated with building your own home.

Help to Build will open for applications on Monday 27th June 2022, and will help level up communities by supporting young people and families into homeownership in areas they want to live. Giving people the chance to build their own home even if you have a small deposit.

The scheme is also designed to help those with specific living requirements, creating homes that are suited to their needs, such as those with disabilities or who live with large families or elderly relatives.

Can you apply for help to build?

You can apply for the Help to Build scheme if you are 18 years of age or over and have the right to live in England. You will also need to live in the newly-built house as your new home and have a self build mortgage from one of the Help to Build registered lenders.

Most mortgage lenders will require you to have planning permission for the plot you intend to build on, before they will assess or approve the mortgage. Potton can help assist with this step of the process with our free plot appraisal.

Download the Help to Build leaflet below to find out more about the scheme, if you are eligible and how to apply.
