Potton Submits Plans to Bring Custom Build Opportunity to Great Gransden, Bedfordshire
Custom and self build specialists Potton, has submitted plans to redevelop the site of its headquarters on Eltisley Road in Great Gransden, Bedfordshire, to create a brand new custom build development on the edge of the sought after village.
The proposed development, which will provide 38 fully serviced plots of varying sizes, layout and cost, will offer self-builders an alternative, hassle-free route to aspirational home ownership in the area. With a vision to provide the opportunity of ‘homes for everyone’, the proposed plots– from £140k - will accommodate all sizes of dwelling from affordable to larger family homes.
The in-house design team at Potton has produced a selection of house styles suited to the Great Gransden custom build site which will have outline planning permission already in place upon plot reservation. Potton has produced a Plot Prospectus which outlines proposed house designs as well as specific planning requirements on the plots. Designs can be individually tailored to the self-builders own lifestyle and budget.
Potton is working with Huntingdonshire Planning Authority, who, since the inception of the Self Build and Custom Housebuilding Act 2015, holds a public register of people wishing to purchase serviced plots of land in order to build their own homes. Priority plot reservation will be offered to those registered on Huntingdonshire District Council’s Right to Build Register.

As a result, we have been working with land owners across the country to bring forward various custom build sites, all of which will provide serviced plot and extensive choice and flexibility to those who want to build their own home.

Unlike self-build, the custom build proposition delivers plots with roads, services and utilities in place. With Custom Build by Potton, those buying plots at Great Gransden will benefit from a range of support services and routes to build an individually designed home.
In addition to the 38 custom build plots, the proposed site will also include five plots designated for self-build show homes so that those building at Great Gransden will be able to see, feel and experience how a home they build themselves could look.
Regular surgeries are being held at Potton’s head office in Great Gransden where interested parties can find out more about the proposed site. Attendees can view the proposed site layout and house types, together with the opportunity of speaking to Potton’s Custom Build Manager.
The Potton team are also on hand to assist with registering details on the Huntingdon Local Authority’s Self Build and Custom Housebuilding public register. Those registered will be given priority when Potton begins to release plots for sale at Great Gransden.
