Stirling and Johnson was first established in 1890. This is a family run company
Which has passed through three generations. Henry (Joe) Thomas first worked for the company of Stirling and Johnson with his brother Alf before finally taking over the company in the 1930’s. Since that time his son Reginald (Reg) came to work for the company on leaving school and took over the running from Joe when he retired in the
Seventies.

In 1973 Reg’s eldest son Vaughan joined to company followed by Clive in 1975 and then Rafe in 1976. All four are still running the company as Directors.

Stirling and Johnson were among the original founder members of the National Federation of Roofing contractors.

Although their head office is based in Sussex they undertake work across the southern part of the U.K. especially in the London and Home county areas. They have also undertaken work abroad in America and The Channel Islands.

Types of work undertaken: -
Traditional and modern techniques.
Slating:-Specialist in Burlington Blue and Westmorland Green slating random and
sized, natural slates, stone and resin slating.
Tiling :- Handmade Clay, Plain, ornamental and interlocking.
Leadwork:- All leadwork carried out including ornate work.

With over 100 years of experience in the roofing industry we undertake both small and large contracts, having completed several valued at over 1 Million pounds.
We have won awards for our craftsmanship and have worked on many prestigious and historic buildings.
