The Lead Sheet AssociationFormed in 1926, the Lead Sheet Association (LSA) has become the ultimate technical authority within the construction industry for the design, specification and application of lead sheet. To maximise the performance of lead sheet, the members of the LSA ensure their manufactured product conforms to the requirements of the British & European Standard BSEN 12588:1999 Lead and Lead Alloys for Building Purposes which requires the material to be of regular consistency and within the thickness tolerance limits laid down in the standard. The technical advice and publications of the LSA are based solely on the performance of rolled lead sheet, which should not be assumed to automatically apply to other lead which does not comply to the British & European Standard. Technical advisory servicesThe LSA operates a full technical advisory service for anyone involved in the use of rolled lead sheet. Designers, specifiers, architects, surveyors, clerks of works, contractors, merchants, building managers and property owners can take advantage of the free telephone advice available, by telephoning the LSA and speaking to one of their technical officers (tel: 01892 822773). Email: leadsa@globalnet.co.uk Website: www.leadsheetassociation.org.uk The LSA also has a subscription based service through which subscribers can enjoy discounts on all LSA fees for technical services, publications and seminars. Technical publicationsThe most authoritative and comprehensive technical information on the use in construction of lead sheet to BSEN 12588:1999 is provided in Rolled Lead Sheet – The Complete Manual, which should be a compulsory point of reference for all designers, specifiers and contractors. Also available are on site pocket guides and Autocad details suitable for architectural technicians. The LSA also provides free literature on health and safety. TrainingComprehensive training programmes have been developed by
the lead industry and are delivered by the Lead Training Academy
(LTA), which is an organisation formed by the partnership
of Lead Sheet Association and the Lead Contractors Association.
Leadwork training courses are available through the LTA at
the Building Crafts College, Stratford, East London
