Potton Launch Latest Development Opportunity in Faversham, Kent
Potton has announced its latest project to transform a former garden centre site in Faversham, Kent into one of only a handful of custom-build Passivhaus developments in the UK.
The scheme was officially launched to the public at a consultation event on the 14th July in Faversham, where Potton requested input from potential plot purchasers.
Paul Newman of Potton said: “Custom build is a great concept and opens the self-build market to a layer of people who want to build their own home but are put off by the perceived hurdles involved."
“Our latest site, which will be known as Silver Sands, already has full planning permission in in place for eight detached and six linked-detached custom-build units. This means that the external appearance and layout of the properties will remain largely fixed, however, the opportunity for extensive internal design input and individual expression remains and it will be interesting to see just how much vision, inspiration and innovation our customers can bring to their new homes.
By adopting the Passivhaus standard our custom builders can be assured that their new homes will benefit from life-long low fuel bills with energy efficiency built in from day one."
“I am sure that the exceptional nature of the scheme at Silver Sands, together with its beautiful location will mean that it quickly becomes one of our most popular custom-build projects to date.”
The Silver Sands site has lain derelict for over 25 years’ and by making use of what is essentially a brownfield site in a beautiful rural location, Potton has begun to create the perfect environment for a new Passivhaus community.
The 14 new homes will be arranged around a central communal woodland space with ‘shared’ spaces and permeable green roadways, reinforcing the natural setting within the site making it an ideal space to live.
