Ian and Bronwen had bought the land in 1988, with a restrictive covenant in place: having purchased this they were able to progress their project.

Planning was applied for in November in 2005, but only granted in August 2007. Groundworks started that November and Potton started the kit erection in February 2008. The internal square area is around 398 square metres and the house sits within a riverbank plot of around 1.1 acres.

The couple acted as their own Project Managers, site labourers, painters, decorators and landscapers. They did not use a "main contractor", preferring to subcontract the non-Potton works to local craftsmen.
