• Why should I choose Timber Frame?
    • There are many reasons, but here are two key ones:
    • Speed of construction – quicker to construct in comparison to a brick and block house. It can be watertight in 10 days or less.
    • Well insulated and thermally efficient – can give you savings on fuel bills.
  • Can I get a mortgage on a timber framed house?
    • Yes. All major lenders offer mortgage finance for timber frame properties on the same terms as for other types of construction
  • How long does a self build project normally take?
    • Using our detailed build programme, you can expect to complete the construction element of your project in 15 to 20 weeks.
  • What type of designs do you offer?
    • We have a Classic range which offers a selection of traditionally styled homes, including our well known Heritage and Rectory designs. The designs in our new Contemporary collection have a more modern feel. All of our designs can be modified to suit your needs. Or you can opt for our Bespoke service if you would like a completely individual design created from scratch. Potton Bespoke
  • Can a Potton design accommodate a basement?
    • Yes, any of our designs can accommodate a basement.
  • Do all your ranges have posts and beams exposed throughout the interior?
    • No. Only designs from the Heritage and Barn ranges utilise an exposed structural post and beam aisle frame. Our other designs use platform timber frame construction where the internal and external walls carry the structural load of the building
  • Will you supply a timber frame to customers who already have their own design?
  • I want to build an eco-friendly home, how can Potton help me achieve this?
    • Potton timber frames are manufactured using sustainable FSC or PEFC certified materials. We can factory fit insulation and include solar panels as part of the package.
  • I’ve heard about the Code for Sustainable Homes – what do I need to do?
    • We can provide a full advice and support service, saving you hassle and cost, and we have the knowledge to comply with all levels including the highest, zero carbon level 6.
